“James Addiction” Wide Receiver/Running Back Start ‘Em (Season Long/DFS) Week #13

To recap Week 12, Julio Jones is good! So is Antonio Brown, Keenan Allen, Jamison Crowder, Marvin Jones, Alvin Kamara, etc. Michael Crabtree got himself suspended for Week 13, but it looks like he will only serve a one game suspension (whew!). Amari Cooper has a concussion as well, which doesn’t bode well for Oakland in Week 13, but they are playing the NY Giants so they have a chance.

On to Week 13 – you may have missed this news, Josh Gordon is back!!! The other big news, unless the NY Giants’ management comes to their senses, is Eli Manning’s consecutive games streak will come to an end, with the Giants starting Geno Smith this week and also giving playing time to Davis Webb. I understand the need to see what you have behind Manning before spending a high draft pick on a quarterback in next summer’s draft.  But I expected more for a quarterback with two Super Bowl wins for the franchise and 210 consecutive starts.

On that somber note, let’s move on to Week 13’s Start ‘Em. My picks are below…

Wide Receivers

Jamison Crowder – Washington @ Dallas (Draft Kings $6,000 / Fan Duel $6,900) – A month ago Crowder faced Dallas and came out of the game with 9 receptions for 123 yards. I expect to see more of the same this week from Crowder and the Washington offense. Dallas hasn’t been able to shut anyone down since the Ezekiel Elliot’s suspension in Week 10 and has been outscored 92 to 22 in that time frame.

Robby Anderson – NY Jets vs Kansas City (Draft Kings $6,300 / Fan Duel $7,200) – Anderson has scored a touchdown in five straight games and this week faces another team in turmoil. After Kansas City’s 5-0 start they have gone 1-5, but are still holding on to the AFC West lead with Oakland and the LA Chargers just one game behind. The Chiefs also have the 28th best defense against the pass giving up 246 yards per game. Anderson has a great chance to extend his touchdown streak this week, and also a good chance for his third 100 yard game of the season.

Davante Adams – Green Bay vs Tampa Bay (Draft Kings $6,500 / Fan Duel $6,500) – Adams is Brett Hundley’s favorite target by far and this week faces the league’s worst defense against the pass. Adams has scored double digit (PPR) fantasy points in six of his last seven games, and will continue the streak this week.

Josh Gordon – Cleveland @ LA Chargers (Draft Kings $4,100 / Fan Duel $5,800) – I remember back in the summer envisioning my Dynasty team being able to start David Johnson and Leonard Fournette and being backed up by Adrian Peterson and C.J. Prosise, and then at receiver: Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Golden Tate and just possibly getting Josh Gordon back to give me an edge. Well, I sit at 2-10 right now and have traded for three first round picks in next year’s rookie draft.  But I’m still excited to roll out Josh Gordon this week. The match-up is by no means great but Gordon has been match-up proof when at his best. He hasn’t played since 2014, but is still only 26 years old, and I’ll be rooting for him this weekend.

Cooper Kupp – LA Rams @Arizona (Draft Kings $6,400 / Fan Duel $6,300) – Kupp had 8 receptions for 116 yards in Week 12, and has another good match-up this week. He shouldn’t see much of Patrick Peterson, and should lead the team again in targets this week. Also in his favor is Arizona’s performance against the run of late, holding Leonard Fournette to 25 yards on 12 carries in Week 12.

Running Backs

Samaje Perine – Washington @ Dallas (Draft  $6,100 / Fan Duel $6,700) – Perine has back to back 100 yard games and faces Dallas this week. Dallas has been up and down against the run, holding Melvin Gordon to a little over 3 yards per carry in Week 12, but also having allowed many backs well over 4 yards per carry throughout the season. I think Washington will wear Dallas down this Thursday night, and Perine should flourish late in the game.

Jamaal Williams – Green Bay vs Tampa Bay (Draft Kings $4,700 / Fan Duel $5,700) – To be honest, I thought picking up Jamaal Williams was a waste, but he has surprised me. He’s been a big part of the Green Bay game plan the last two weeks and will be again this week. Either catching the ball out of the backfield or running for a touchdown, Williams will be a decent fantasy scorer for the third straight week.

Carlos Hyde – San Francisco @ Chicago (Draft Kings $5,900 / Fan Duel $7,000) – This is a good match-up for Hyde, in Jimmy Garoppolo’s first start for the 49’ers. Garoppolo is an above average athlete who can move and should extend plays for San Francisco. However, he doesn’t yet have the weapons downfield to throw to, so Hyde should continue to be a big part of the passing offense with the quarterback change. Also, Hyde should get more carries than usual this week as this should be a close game that comes down to the fourth quarter. The Bears rushing defense has taken a hit with Danny Trevathan sidelined, and Hyde should have one of his better games of the season this week.

Marshawn Lynch – Oakland vs NY Giants (Draft Kings $4,800 / Fan Duel $6,200) – Lynch carried the ball 26 times in Week 12. In Week 13 I’d expect more of the same, with possibly both starting receivers sidelined. Lynch didn’t run for a great average against Denver’s defense.  But this week he should have more success against a Giants team that is next to last in the NFL against the run.

Running Back Tandem

Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara – New Orleans vs Carolina (Draft Kings $7,900, $8,400 / Fan Duel $8,000, $8,500)

Alvin Kamara is finally more expensive than Mark Ingram in DFS. In other noteworthy news, Mark Ingram finally had a below average game playing from behind against the Rams in Week 12. But Alvin Kamara had a meager 188 yards and 2 TD’s on his eleven touches. Yes, only eleven touches (these are college numbers)! Ingram and Kamara will permanently be listed as the best Running Back Tandem in the league barring injury. Dion Lewis and Rex Burkhead and Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen and others would have had chance in most seasons, but there’s always next year!!!
