Now that the Detroit Tigers have inked a deal with Prince Fielder for a cool $214 million (suggested in an article I wrote a week ago “Victor Martinez torn ACL out for year”), they have firmly secured in their clutches another division title. When you couple the horses they have in starting pitching with arguably the best one, two offensive punch in the MLB, I think its safe to say that they will be a front-runner to represent the AL in the fall classic in 2012. You will definitely see a move back to 3rd for Miguel Cabrera once Victor Martinez returns in which he will man first base, and fill in at DH and catcher occasionally. Prince Fielder will play a combo of 1st base and DH once Martinez comes back. Imagine what the middle of that line up looks like when Martinez returns. You will have Miguel Cabrera batting 3rd, Prince Fielder batting clean up, and Martinez batting 5th! This will be the best 3/4 combination since David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez during their run in the middle of the last decade. One could argue that it very well may be the best the game has EVER seen. Only time will tell! My hat goes off to the Tigers front office for making this deal which may change the direction of the organization for the next decade. Bravo!
